Safer ductwork handling

Lindab, spiral ductwork

The benefits to ductworkers’ health and safety offered by Lindab’s range of Smart Tools has been confirmed by a study by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. Ductwork is one of the most injury-prone trades in the building-services industry, and Lindab set out to improve matters with a range of specially designed tools, such as the SR roller pictured.

The study compared the use of Lindab Safe fittings and Smart Tools with conventional techniques for cutting, assembling and transporting circular ductwork.

The results showed that Lindab Safe fittings put significantly less strain on workers’ backs. Knees, too, were much less prone to injury.

For moving sections of large-diameter ductwork around, Smart carrying handles provide a safe and sure grip, with no risk of cutting hands and legs.

Larger sections can be handled easily and safely with the TRO trolley. It enables one person to mover larger ducts, big bends and heavy items such as attenuators.

For multiple lengths of smaller ducting, the Lindab trolley can be fitted with snap-on sidebars, complete with extension handles for easy steering.
