Leeds rugby club converts to instantaneous water heaters

Andrews Water Heaters, DHW
The refurbishment of the hot-water services at this rugby club in Leeds has seen instantaneous water heaters from Andrews replace communal baths and a boiler/calorifier system.

Installing new showers and instantaneous water heaters to replace a boiler/calorifier installation supplying traditional communal baths at Roundhegians Rugby Football Club in Leeds will make considerable savings in fuel and water consumption. The 16 new showers are used by senior and junior rugby teams, with water heated by four FastFlo instantaneous water heaters from Andrews Water Heaters.

Maximum economy in operation is achieved by the design of FastFlo measuring incoming water flow and temperature and using this information to modulate the burner to meet the demand to an accuracy of ±1 K. Instantaneous water heaters prevent standby losses.

The heaters installed have a maximum flow of 32 l/min through a temperature rise of 25 K. They were installed by Woods North East in the existing boiler house using a concentric balanced flue.

They were installed in on a wall in series with hot- and cold-water headers below.

The space that has been freed up will be partitioned off to create a new physio and first-aid room.
