Building-services provider JS Wright has teamed up with Aston University to give a head start to budding construction project managers. This mechanical-engineering specialist is offering a regular fully paid undergraduate Summer placement to launch its support for the BSc construction project management course run by the university’s school of engineering and applied science.

The 8-week vacation indenture starting this Summer will enable a first- or second-year students to gain work experience alongside the company’s designers, site managers and project managers on national projects.

The training commitment has been accompanied by the launch of the JS Wright award for the best second-year construction student and taking a place on the advisory board of the school of engineering and applied science.

Marcus Aniol, managing director of JS Wright, says, ‘Our success as a company is down to the excellence of our workforce, so we are delighted to be able to give back the benefit of our experience to students setting out on management career paths.’

Dr Peter Hedges, director of Aston University’s construction degrees, says, ‘Building services is becoming an increasingly important element of our construction programmes, and I am sure our students will jump at this opportunity to gain relevant paid practical experience in this area.’
