CIBSE’s ‘Non-compliance costs campaign gains industry momentum

Leading industry bodies such as the UK Green Building Council, BRE Global, the Heating & Ventilating Contractors’ Association and the British Institute of Facilities Management have signed up as partner organisations for CIBSE’s ‘Non-compliance costs’ campaign. The campaign warns that non-compliance with the Energy Performance in Buildings and F-gas Regulations is costing both business and the environment.

With rates of air-conditioning inspections at less than 5%, the campaign calls for participants to sign up and support the compliance charter, which sets out three steps that the Government must take to tackle the issue of non-compliance.

CIBSE president Rob Manning says, ‘We are delighted that the non-compliance costs message is spreading, and we welcome the support of these partner organisations. With a new Government in office, it is more important than ever for them to acknowledge that air-conditioning inspection compliance is not working and to take steps to remedy this situation.’

Over 300 people have already signed up to pledge their support for the campaign.
