Factory tools up with replacement fan-convector heaters

Smith's Environmental Products, fan convector heaters, space heating
More effective and energy-efficient heating for a factory in Halifax has been provided by replacing a one-pipe radiator system with fan convectors from Smith’s Environmental Products.

Not only has the installation of fan convector heaters from Smith’s Environmental Products improved the effectiveness of heating for a manufacturer of power tools in Yorkshire, but it has also reduced heating costs by 24%. Heating was previously provided by panel radiators and a cast-iron one-pipe system, which left offices too cold and the factory too hot.

The new heating for Cengar in Halifax comprises three Skyline units suspended from the factory ceiling and three HL Ecovectors in the offices.

Wayne Slattery of Brian Slattery Plumbers explains, ‘With so much machinery in the factory space, there was no point in replacing the radiators as the machinery would only have obstructed them. Ceiling and high-level mounted fan convectors which circulate heat from above are a much more efficient solution.’

Skyline units have their own thermostat, making it easier to control the temperature of each area independently. They can also recirculate air in the space, which is useful in the Summer.

Despite the age of the building, installation was straightforward, with work carried out around the factory employees without disturbing production.
