Rinnai plays a role in asbestos safety
To ensure that hot water in its decontamination units for operators working with asbestos never runs out, Air Management Systems has fitted its units with Rinnai continuous-flow water heaters. These decontamination units are purpose built to enable workers in environments where asbestos is a hazard to shower and change their clothing before meal breaks and at the end of the day.
There are three separated stages. The fist is a ‘dirty’ room for the safe disposal of all contaminated clothing, including paper underwear. The next room is for washing and showering. Finally there is a clean room. All rooms are held at negative pressure. Waste water from showers is filtered several times to capture asbestos fibres before it is discharged to waste.
The installation of Rinnai water heaters, which use LPG in this application, was quick and simple and has improved the performance of the washing and showering facilities.
These water heaters only heat water when there is a demand, eliminating the reheating and standing losses associated with storage systems and freeing up space in the decontamination unit. They incorporate frost protection.
