Fujitsu VRF installation boosts air-conditioning efficiency for Cordek

Air-conditioning efficiency in these premises of Cordek has been boosted following the replacement of the previous system with a Fujitsu Airstage V-II VRF system.

The latest project carried out by air-conditioning contractor Tollhurst for Cordek, a major manufacturer and supplier of specialist expanded-polystyrene products for the construction industry, is the installation and commissioning of a Fujitsu Airstage V-II VRF air-conditioning system. Tollhurst has looked after all Cordek’s air-conditioning requirements since 1999. This latest project involved removing a mixture of split systems from the 200 m2 offices and installing 13 Fujitsu fan-coil units of various styles.

There are individual controllers in each office. A centralised touch-screen controller enables the end user to set the operating range of individual units for heating and cooling.

Mark Carter of Tollhurst says, ‘The air-conditioning products originally installed in the Cordek offices were single splits. We were asked by one of the company directors if there was a more efficient way of cooling and heating the offices.

‘We discussed the project with Phil Turner at [distributor] Ultimate Air and with Fujitsu and came up with the best solution — to offer a new V-II Series system. I think we had already proved that the Fujitsu equipment we installed for them over the past 10 years has been totally reliable.’

V-II units have a cooling EER of up to 4.07 (27% better than the previous model) and a heating COP of up to 4.37 (18% better than the previous model).
