Lochinvar helps deliver a NEAT solution in Belfast

Lochinvar, DHW
Contributing to the energy-efficiency credentials of this new centre in Belfast is a Lochinvar solar-thermal hot-water system and condensing boilers.

Designed to achieve an excellent NEAT rating (the NHS equivalent of BREEAM), the Iveagh Centre in Belfast for children with learning disabilities incorporates Lochinvar gas-fired boilers, water heaters and a solar thermal packaged.

Domestic hot water is generated by an integrated solar-thermal and direct-gas-fired water-heater package. Six solar collectors supply pre-heated feed water for the EcoForce gas-fired condensing water heater as a bespoke solution.

Space heating is provided by two condensing boilers for this purpose-built centre, which comprises eight individual bedrooms, all with en suite facilities. There is also a range of therapeutic and clinical rooms, plus recreational areas.

Plant-room space was at a premium, so the compact design of the equipment was also important. The condensing boilers are wall mounted, and the water heater has a footprint of less than 1 m2.

The equipment was specified by Integrated services Design and installed by Armstrong Heating & Plumbing.
