Refcom challenges figures on F-gas qualified engineers

Published:  10 November, 2010

Wide discrepancies in the number of engineers still to qualify to the new F-gas standards are causing confusion — according to Steve Crocker of Refcom’s advisory committee. He says, ‘Figures of up to 40 000 have been reported, but this is nowhere near accurate. The reality is much closer to 25 000 engineers, and this is continually decreasing as more engineers obtain the new F-gas qualification.

‘Talk of industry shortage after the July 2011 deadline is clouding the fact that over a quarter of engineers have already achieved full F-gas certification, and increasing numbers are joining the voluntary Refcom Elite scheme to demonstrate their commitment to compliance.’
