Prestigious judging panel assembled for Building Controls Industry Awards

The judges for the annual awards of the Building Controls Industry Association have been announced. They represent some of the construction industry’s leading organisations and associations. The awards will be presented on 12 May 2011, and the deadline for entries is 20 December 2010. More information is on the BCIA web site at the address below.

The judges are as follows.

• Derek Clements-Croome, Professor Emeritus in Architectural Engineering at University of Reading.

• Hywell Davies, Technical Director, CIBSE.

• David Frise, Head of Sustainability, HVCA.

• Jo Harris, Head of FM Engineering, BSRIA.

• Paul Huggins, Carbon Trust Head of ECA Technology Leadership.

• Mike Malina, independent energy consultant.

• Ken Sharpe, Editor Modern Building Services magazine.

BCIA President Ian Ellis says: ‘The association is delighted that such a prestigious judging panel will be helping to select the best from our industry. Not only will it make the BCIA Awards even more worth winning, it will also help to establish our sector as central to the goal of creating more energy efficient buildings.’

There are eight categories for the BCIA Awards, which are open to BCIA members and non-members: independent systems installer of the year; technical innovation of the year (products); technical innovation of the year (projects); energy management award; best service and maintenance provider; student of the year; engineer of the year; contribution to training.

The BCIA also confers a lifetime contribution award to recognise the individual who has made a consistent and significant contribution to the building controls sector over the course of a career.
