Fujitsu provides effective cooling for school’s IT
Overheating in the IT suites of Soham Village School in Cambridgeshire, which has recently been awarded the Becta ICT Mark for the innovative use of technology throughout learning, has been overcome with the installation of Fujitsu air-conditioning equipment. The school is a specialist technology and also a specialist languages college and uses its IT facilities to provide students with opportunities to learn in new and exciting ways.
Leon Grant, head of Breathe Interior’s air-conditioning division, which was called in to advise, says, ‘After conducting a site survey and looking at all the options, we specified a mix of Fujitsu splits — 7 kW wall units and 12.5 kW ceiling-suspended splits. We sited the outdoor units on a flat roof adjacent to the classroom safely out of harm’s way of the students.
‘The job had to be completed over the Summer holiday, so there was no disruption to lessons. We performed the task in just five weeks in time for the students to come back to their new air-conditioned classrooms in September. In all, we dealt with 10 or 11 classrooms.’
