BP chooses prefabricated electrical system for BP petrol stations

Marshall-Tufflex’s MT32 prefabricated wiring system is to be used in BP-owned petrol stations around the country.

The successful trial of Marshall-Tufflex’s MT32 prefabricated modular wiring solution is being followed up with its installation in BP-owned petrol stations around the country. The BP Connect service station in Woking underwent complete redevelopment to update its facilities and incorporate a new M&S Simply Food outlet onto the site.

As BP-approved electrical contractor, Active Connect designed and installed all power and data systems for the projects and decided to evaluate the MT32 system with a view to using it on future projects.

Active Connect director Gary Woodland says, ‘Our priority was to find a power-connection system that would allow us to efficiently complete fast-track retail projects. We were also keen to identify a system that reduced the number of electrical engineers on site. The MT system was very good. It’s quite straightforward to install and far easier than a traditional “hard-wired” installation.’

The entire system was supplied as five kits to cover different sections of the 245 m2 service station. Each kit contained a pre-wired home run, complete with distribution hub for on-site final connection to the distribution board and accessories. MT32 home-run multi-core cables are prefabricated to suit the project specifications to enable quick and easy connection to pre-wired and assemble lighting and power points in this service station.

Odyssey perimeter trunking incorporating MT32 prewired modular accessories was supplied for an area that required a concentration of multiple power and data-service outlets.

A further benefit of the MT32 system is that it can be reconfigured and reused post-installation without waste.
