Pegler Yorkshire plumbing fittings speed up university accommodation project

Pegler Yorkshire, pipework, push fit, press fit
Pegler Yorkshire’s Tectite Advance plumbing fittings are helping reduce installation time on a major student-accommodation project at Exeter University.

Press-fit and push-fit plumbing fittings from Pegler Yorkshire are being used in a project to provide 19 new accommodation blocks at Exeter University, along with a full commercial-valves package to facilitate heating and domestic water installation. The £80 million project is due for completion towards the end of 2011 and will provide nearly 2000 new bed spaces.

The products were selected by Mitie Engineering Service for the speed of installation, onsite training and technical support and because the extensive range of valves and fittings were available from a single supplier.

Mitie contracts manager Richard Bell comments, ‘The ease and speed of installation has led to reduced time on site, helping to keep our resources on site at a lower level than would be required if traditional materials and jointing techniques had been utilised.’

All installers received onsite installation training and certification, with further assistance provided as required.
