Ideal combi boiler uses flue gases to preheat mains water

Ideal, combi boiler, Code Level 4

A combi boiler that can support up to Code Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes has been launched by Ideal. The Code Combi builds on the success of the company’s Logic wall-hung boilers — with the addition of a recuperator in the flue outlet to preheat incoming mains cold water and increase the efficiency of producing domestic hot water. This additional heat exchanger adds just 130 mm to the height of the boiler.

These new boilers are available with outputs of 26, 33 and 38 kW and are said to be the first one-box solution from a major manufacturer to include passive heat recovery from the flue gases for better DHW efficiency.

For heating applications, these new boilers achieve the same rating as the rest of the Logic family (89% SEDBUK 2009). Their performance is even better when the Standard Assessment Procedure is applied, since this takes into account DHW performance. Using this model through Appendix Q will reduce emissions from a typical house by over 4%, making a significant contribution to achieving CSH levels.

Code Combi boilers come as a complete package with concealed system connections and filling loop, built-in automatic bypass and flying lead. Other features include a push-and-clip flue turret connection, separately labelled pack of hardware components, universal condensate-pipe connection and fully modulating operating.
