BCIA announces shortlist for controls-industry awards

BCIA, Building Controls Industry Association

With the fifth annual awards of the Building Controls Industry due to be announced on 12 May 2011, the judging panel has now selected its shortlist of finalists. The independent judging panel represented a cross-section of the building-services sector, academia and energy-management expertise. The secret voting system ensured a rigorously fair process, with winners and runners-up selected on the basis of entries supplied on a newly designed entry form.

Karen Fletcher, executive officer of BCIA, comments, ‘This year’s winners and runners-up have certainly earned their place on the list. This is the first time that we have used an independent judging panel, and all our judges brought their extensive industry knowledge to bear during the process.’

‘Ian Ellis, president of the BCIA, adds, ‘Our aim this year is to raise the standard and prestige of the awards, and this rigorous voting process is a key part of that. The awards ceremony takes place on 12 May, and we are very much looking forward to recognising the excellent entries that have been identified as winners and runners-up.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by former BBC News presenter Selina Scott at a gala dinner. Full details on the BCIA web site at the address below. The awards ceremony is preceded by the association’s conference.

We will be reporting the winners in the June issue of Modern Building Services. The shortlist of finalists is as follows. There will also be special awards for the student of the year, sponsored by Siemens Building Technologies, and a lifetime contribution award.
