YorPower complete standby-power installation in double-quick time

YorPower, standby power

Part of two 1800 kVA MTU diesel generators, each weighing 14 t, is craned onto the roof, 15 storeys up, of an office development in Manchester for a contracted awarded to YorPower to provide N+1 backup for an American bank. The task was carried out by a 200 t crane with a reach of 30 m while a road was closed from a Friday afternoon to Monday morning.

Ian Thompson, managing director of YorPower, told us, ‘The whole project from order through procurement of major components, assembly, build, completion on site, including installation and commissioning, took just 18 weeks. Typically a project of this nature would take 30 weeks from start to completion on site.’
