Chilled beams do justice for comfort in Barcelona City of Justice

Trox Group, chilled beams
The largest site in Europe devoted to justice, Ciudad de la Justicia in Barcelona, has heating and cooling provided by 11 000 active chilled beams from Trox Group.

Trox Group is supplying 11 000 chilled-beam units to the €1 billion Ciudad de la Justicia (City of Justice) in Barcelona, the largest site in Europe devoted to justice. These active chilled beams provide heating and cooling and were selected for their energy efficiency and high comfort levels they provide.

Trox is also supplying 11 000 VFL volume flow limiters for installation upstream of the chilled beams. They are responsible for balancing and adjusting the primary airflows and are said to be so easy to set up that installation time is significantly reduced.

The Ciudad de la Justicia is being built by the regional government of Catalonia. It comprises eight buildings on a total site area of 213 000 m2. It is being built to accommodate the premises previously distributed between the neighbouring cities of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Barcelona. The site will serve both civil and criminal justice, accommodating forensic-science services, a court building, state prosecutor’s department and registry office. There are other buildings for offices and sheltered housing.
