KNX smooths transition from Cat A fit-out to final fit-out

KNX, lighting control
Installing a KNX-compatible lighting control system as part of the Cat A fit-out of Broadgate West in the City of London has made subsequent fit-outs quick and easy.

The installation of a Lightrak KNX lighting control system as part of the Cat A fit-out of Broadgate West in the City of London made tailoring space taken by global financial-services firm UBS quicker and simpler. Installed by Electrak, a member of KNX UK, Lightrak KNX is designed to provide seamless interoperability with any KNX building control module.

This interoperability was a big benefit to UBS, which not only had its own specification when it took space in the development but was also aware that the space would need to be reconfigured during its tenancy.

The Lightrack system delivers efficient lighting. It also makes smaller changes in lighting configuration and bigger changes such as adding new controls quick and easy.

The Cat A fit-out was designed to include presence detectors on all 11 floors to prevent lights being left on out of hours. In response to USB’s requirements, the Cat A system was quickly and easily modified to include manual switching, timed event controls and dimming/scene setting.

The lighting control system in this building was installed using Electrak’s buscom trunking, a busbar hybrid combining power and a separate communications bus. Lighting-control components were then simply clipped on a plugged in anywhere along the trunking and configured.
