A first for the BREEAM bespoke ‘Outstanding’ category, the Dogs Trust Shrewsbury Rehoming Centre at Roden.

The first building in the world to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating in the bespoke category is the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre at Roden. McPhillips (Wellington) ltd achieved 100% of the available credits for management, energy and water use on the project. The final BREEAM score was 94.44%.

This £5.25 million redevelopment of the existing Canine Rehoming Centre for the Dogs Trust was designed for sustainability from the outset. Features include super insulation from recycled paper, solar PV, a biomass boiler, rainwater harvesting and a green roof for added insulation. Energy consumption has been reduced by 70% over a traditional rehoming facility.
