Lighting-control system combines DALI and KNX capability

Legrand, lighting, KNX, DALI

Legrand has enhanced the appeal of the Electrak lighting-control system with the launch of a version combining plug-and-play capability with the ability to control and receive feedback from DALI luminaires over KNX. Lightrak, part of the extensive Electrak range, delivers power distribution and lighting control in one solution that operates from a buscom suspended in a ceiling void.

Buscom enables power and communication circuits to be accessible at any tap-off outlet via a shielded twisted-pair communications bus. DALI lighting control units (LCUs) simply plug-in and hang from the buscom.

The LCUs are essentially individual DALI networks that deliver full DALI control and feedback capability. They have specially designed gateways that enable these individual networks to be linked over KNX. Using KNX as the backbone protocol means the new Lightrak is open and easy to integrate into BMS systems and IP networks.

The new Lightrak units are fully addressable and can be reconfigured from a PC; once installed, there is no need to disturb a ceiling tile to make operating changes. They can also be configured using the widely available ETS software, giving them the scope to control virtually any arrangement of luminaires.
