Trane enhances performance and quality of air-handling units

Following research in the industry, Trane has developed a new range of air-handling units with more features and better build quality.
Trane’s new range of CLCE air-handling units has been developed from the CLCP range launched in 2003 following research among consultants, contractors and maintenance companies. Among the improvements is the inclusion on name plates of motor power, external static pressure, and air flow. Inspection windows are now double glazed; they were previously single glazed. An improved material for door seals does not degrade with repetitive opening and closing. Build quality is improved by using a new aluminium profile framework. Panels are riveted to the profile with foam sealing strips to achieve high standards of air tightness. These air-handling units can be delivered to site in sections, where they are quickly and effectively joined together using a specially devised fixing method. Applications include office buildings, shopping centres, hotels, cinemas and leisure centres. Their smooth internal construction meets the CO4 requirements for hospitals. Key features for hospital applications are the fitting of motors out of the air stream, inclined drain pans of stainless steel and fully removable. The units have wash-down sections with dagger plates or shut-off dampers. The CLCE range is available in 66 standard sizes; non-standard sizes are also available. Casing options include indoor and outdoor versions, 25 and 50 mm panels, 50 mm panels with thermal break, access via hinged doors or lift-off panels, and 0.5, 0.9 or 1.2 mm inner and outer skins to comply with acoustic requirements. There is a wide choice of components: mixing sections, filters from efficiency EU3/G3 to EU13/H13; activated-carbon filters; heating coils (steam, hot water, electric and indirect gas-fired modules); cooling coils (chilled water and direct expansion); self-generating humidifiers; silencers; and forward-curved and backward-inclined fans. These units can also be supplied with integrated heat-recovery systems such as run-around coils, plate heat exchangers and rotary wheels. CLCE air-handling units can be delivered with a plug-and-play control system built in and tested before delivery.
