Uponor introduces new plumbing system to UK

Uponor, pipes, pipework

The demonstration of a new plumbing system to the UK at Ecobuild by Uponor ensured that its stand was constantly surrounded. The Q&E is described as a complete plumbing system offering a direct alternative to copper and plastic push-fit systems for heating, hot-water and cold-water services. The system is new to the UK, but is a plumbing system of choice for many European installers, with over 75 million fittings sold worldwide. The system is WRAS approved.

The system is based on Uponor’s PEX pipe and uses an hydraulic gun to expand the diameter of the pipe and a Q&E ring to secure the fitting. When the tool is removed and the fitting inserted, the tube and ring contract rapidly to secure the joint. No heat is involved. Fittings can be freely rotated after the joint has been made.

Fittings are made of PPSU (polyphenalsulfone radel R 5100) and are available as couplings, reducers, elbows, tees, tap connectors and male/female threaded adaptors.

Chrome coated metal connections are available to make connections from radiators to pipes under the floor.

The Q&E system is suitable for a wide range of commercial and domestic installations and can be adapted to fit other systems.
