Elco lines up for Chelsea FC with a strong back four

Elco UK has supplied three high-output condensing boilers for a 4 MW LTHW packaged plantroom built by Armstrong Fluid Technology to serve the under-pitch heating coils of Chelsea FC’s training ground in Cobham. The floor-standing R3604 boilers for the containerised system were specified by Richard Jackson, senior engineer with the Anslow Partnership.

Matt Gough, project engineer with Armstrong, was responsible for producing the plant room. He comments, ‘For a large 1000 kW boiler, the rear pipework on the R3604 is a great design, with excellent access around the whole unit for ongoing maintenance and servicing.’

The down-firing water-cooled premix burner arrangement maximises combustion efficiency. NOx emissions of this series of boilers are Class 5, with the R3600SB models emitting just 11.5 mg/kWh, easily exceeding the requirements for the best BREEAM NOx emissions rating.

This range of boilers covers outputs from 660 kW to 1.9 MW. Up to eight boilers can be operated in cascade.
