Airside fan-coil units from Ability Projects

Airside control is now offered by Ability Projects on the Orion range of 4-pipe fan-coil units.
Ability Projects has introduced its first airside 4-pipe fan-coil unit. Orion horizontal-chassis units are available in four models in AC and DC/EC format with sensible cooling capacities up to 8 kW and operating noise levels as low as NR25. The DC/EC versions have lower power consumption than the AC types and infinitely variable fan speed . At a typical fan-coil duty point, the DC/EC configuration with two fans will require 80 W, compared with 210 W for an AC version. The overall energy saving is 50 to 75%. Orion units are based around the Trojan concept. They have an integral discharge plenum with user-configurable spigot connections. Fans are of the enclosed-rotor type. In the AC types, fan speed is provided using a tapped transformer with up to 15 speeds. This aids commissioning and balancing since each unit can be fine tuned to its own installed situation. These fan-coil units can be customised. Typical examples include adapting spigot positions and styles and including integral volume-control dampers.
