LJJ completes £3 million project at London school

LJJ, contractor

Building-services specialist LJJ has completed a £3 million M&E design and installation scheme at Mayfield School in Ilford for the London Borough of Redbridge. The scheme, designed by davidmillerarchitects, involved the design and installation of services for a major extension to the school in a standalone teaching block and a new-build sports hall.

Natural ventilation controlled by temperature and CO2 sensors is provided for classroom areas that do not have air conditioning.

The dedicated plant room for the new extension includes two gas-fired boilers, two calorifiers, tanks, heating-system pumps and a mechanical control panel. There are air-handling units on the roof to provide fresh air for the assembly hall, sixth-form teaching areas and toilet blocks. There is air conditioning in IT teaching facilities.

LJJ also installed and installed a sprinkler system for the 3-storey extension, fed by a tank behind the new sports hall.
