Gilberts, just messing about by the river

Gilberts, Blackpool ventilation, natural ventilation, louvres

Gilberts has helped to meet environmental objectives for the Combined College Boathouse on the River Cam in Cambridge by supplying natural-ventilation components and air-movement elements for the supplementary natural ventilation. The new building has been designed by RHP for King’s, Selwyn and Churchill Colleges.

A pair of continuous natural-ventilation wall assemblies were purpose designed by incorporating WHZ50 high-p[performance external louvres with Class A weathering, each with a VN75 damper, 440 mm-deep attenuator and internal HGH deflection grille. They are controlled by a combined CO2 and temperature sensors to deliver fresh air without weather ingress to the main clubroom, office and kitchen area.

For the fitness room, WCs and changing room, supplementary mechanical ventilation with heat recovery was utilised to ensure adequate removal of moisture and heat. Through-wall louvres and DGA internal ceiling diffusers help ensure appropriate air movement and quality with a clean horizontal air pattern throughout the building. Acoustic attenuation to the louvres prevents excessive noise in the building.
