As part of the full structural reconfiguration and refurbishment of 33 Glasshouse Street in central London, AET Flexible Space supplied underfloor air conditioning. The building has a Grade 2-listed facade and was refurbished to form larger, open-plan floor plates and Cat A office accommodation on floors three to seven.

AET supplied its space-saving underfloor air conditioning to floors three to seven, which have a total area of 200 m2, working with consultants WPP and architects Buckley Grey Yeoman.

The system specified for this project is a CAM-C direct-expansion system with supply and return air distributed via the floor plenum. The Fantile terminal units are slimline TUS-EC units that are designed to fit into the shallow floor plenums that are common in London refurbishments and with EC motors for enhanced energy efficiency.

There is no need for a ceiling void, and a floor-to-ceiling height of 3.3 m has been achieved. The project will use Daikin heat pumps to maximise the use of space and energy efficiency.

Main contractor McLaren planned to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very good’ rating.
