Electrolytic system controls limescale

Sentinel, limescale, water treatment, Quick fixes

Sentinel Commercial’s KalGUARD device for controlling limescale uses electrolytic technology to achieve overall cost effectiveness, performance, ease of installation and low maintenance. The device comprises a zinc anode unit, copper cathode, water meter and controller. It permanently conditions water by dosing it with a very low level of stable zinc from the anode.

The result is for naturally occurring calcium-carbonate crystals to form as soft argonite, which does not form deposits, rather than as hard deposit-forming calcite (limescale).

Electrolytic technology is recommended in the compliance guide to Part L. Independent testing at Cranfield University has demonstrated KalGUARD’s ability to reduce limescale.

KalGUARD is WRAS-approved and can treat an entire system when installed on a rising main before pump and booster sets. Its success has been demonstrated with all types of water heaters from leading OEM providers.

Once commissioned, KalGUARD requires only a bi-annual service if the system filter is fitted. No consumable are required for ongoing operation, and the zinc anode last for up to 12 years.

KalGUARD comes in a range of sizes from 22 to 108 mm.
