Siemens launches drive to cut harmonics

drives
Specifically designed for building-services installation and to deliver excellent harmonic performance is this range of drives from Siemens Building Technologies.
The issue of the generation of power-system harmonics in building-services installations is addressed by the SED2 variable-speed drives and the free HarmonEE software from Siemens Building Technologies. SED2 drives have been carefully optimised for fan and pump application — rather than for general-purpose use in industry. This approach has enabled Siemens to incorporate innovative low-harmonic-technology circuitry to achieve excellent harmonic performance without the need for bulky filters and chokes. These drives are available with ratings from 37 W to 90 kW in IP20/21 versions and 1.1 to 90 kW in IP54 versions. All models incorporate PID controllers and a range of pre-programmed HVAC functions. The HarmonEE software enables users to assess the harmonic performance of an installation incorporating multiple SED2 drives.
