Sales and investment both on the increase at Diffusion

Back on the growth trail — Leigh Stimpson of Diffusion.
Diffusion has bounced back from two years of poor trading with a 26% increase in sales over the last 12 months, an upswing in profits and signs of a more buoyant market place. The company’s product range includes fan coils, over-door heaters and air conditioning systems to optimise the quality of the working and living environment. The company expects to see continued growth over the coming 12 months and to hire more production staff. Managing director Leigh Stimpson says, ‘We are operating two shifts on the shop floor and envisage a third shift in the coming months, due to increased demand.’ In May last year, Energy Technique, which owns Diffusion, saw a significant cash injection, which enabled Diffusion to trade up in an orderly fashion and make key investment sin plant and a new testing facility. The last six months have seen the new acoustic test suite come on line, which can test all Diffusion’s product range. It can be used for installed witness testing using customer ductwork and grilles, as well as product validation testing. The company is also working with South Bank University to ensure that the products it makes are highly energy efficient. Work includes thoroughly looking at thermodynamics within the coil, aerodynamics within the cased space, fan and motor efficiencies and controls philosophy. The work is seen as an important step towards fan coils and fan convectors being accepted for inclusion on the Energy Technology Lost so they qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances. A recent development is the air-purifier fan coil with Ecoquest. It uses radiant catalytic ionisation to deliver purified air. Diffusion has spent over £1 million researching this technology over the last five years and believes it has a practical and commercially acceptable solution to air purification.
