A version of the Riegens Cirrus direct/indirect luminaire was specified by NEC and modified for the project. The Cirrus KC range of suspended luminaires combines a specially developed optical system with extremely slim panels that offer both decoration and illumination. The optical system is based on anti-glare microprism panels and reflectors to deliver the optimum distribution of direct and indirect light.
The efficient use of energy is achieved by a combination of light output ratio and utilisation from the louvre optics, coupled with the use of T5 lamps and dimmable DALI controllable ballasts.
The resulting hybrid Cirrus has been installed as two continuous rows of 107 m, through-wired and suspended from the existing suspension points to avoid disruption to the ceiling. Each 1536 mm Cirrus fitting has two 54 W T5 lamps to provide an even distribution of light to the floor, walls and ceiling.
Andy Henderson, maintenance manager at the NEC, commented, ‘Riegens proved to be an excellent partner for the Bridgelink refurbishment. The Cirrus luminaires fulfilled the design requirements perfectly and were delivered on time, which is a critical factor in this type of project.’
