Raychem protects against freezing pipes at Cranfield

Raychem
Exposed water service lines at Cranfield University’s new facility for health research and teaching on the campus in Essex are protected against frost by Raychem self-regulating heat-tracing systems. Astec of Great Yarmouth, a distributor partner of Tyco Thermal Controls, was commissioned the M&E contractor Lorne Stewart to provide frost protection for all exposed pipework on the roof top and in plant-room areas. The Raychem solution activates the heating cables if the temperature drops below 5°C. These self-regulating cables deliver just the right amount of heat exactly where it is needed to prevent water lines from freezing.
