Flame-effect fan convectors are focal points of Decent Homes in Bristol
A focal point for upgraded heating systems in homes in Bristol is provided by flame-effect fan convectors from Smith’s Industries.
Focal-point flame-effect fan convectors from Smith’s Environmental Products have been installed in over a thousand properties of Bristol City Council to meet the Decent Homes Standard. The council has 28 500 properties, with 21 000 of them running gas appliances. Central-heating systems are being installed in the non-gas properties as part of the Decent Homes programme. Older systems are being upgraded with combi boilers. John Long, technical investment manager with the council, explains, ‘We chose the Smith’s Hydroflame because it is a niche product that helps improve a building’s SAP rating. It also meant that we did not have to remove the flue liner from the older heating systems, removing the costs of scaffold and height work that would have been required, as well as reducing Health & Safety costs.’
