Tour Andover Controls becomes a major international force

Andover Controls and TAC have merged to become Tour Andover Controls, a global operator in building automation and security with an expected turnover for 2004 of £363 million. Expertise is building management and security systems is brought by Andover Controls, with TAC contributing experience in building automation and security. Arne Frank, former chief executive of TAC is the CEO of the new operation. He describes the new company, with 2700 employees worldwide, as bringing to the market the most integrated and innovative solutions for building automation, security and energy management. In the UK, the company is headed by Derek Duffill (managing director), Peter Richardson (deputy managing director) and Garrie Naden (finance director). As part of the merger process, a global sales conference was held in Miami, at which Tour Andover Controls UK received three awards. The Shooting Star internal awards acknowledged the efforts that resulted in a 31% increase in year-on-year growth. The president’s award recognised the company’s continuous improvement in project execution and sales processes. Not only has there been a dramatic improvement in contacting but also growth with new high-quality customers and an expanding network of partners. Thirdly, Richard Strode, projects and support divisional director, and Robert McIntyre, project manager, received the chairman’s award for winning the Manchester Royal Infirmary project. The new company has a divisional structure to ensure that field staff become part of a dedicated local team, enabling them to focus on the needs of customers in their own regions. Derek Duffill explains, ‘These local teams will be responsible for servicing their own customer base.’ Corporate headquarters for the combined companies are in Malmö, Sweden, and Andover, Massachusetts in the USA. The UK headquarters are in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leics.
