2010 is 20 years of the Commissioning Specialists Association
The CSA will be twenty years old in 2010. An awful lot of water has passed under the bridge since the first ‘open’ meeting held in a King’s Cross hotel. The organisation has been transformed from the fledgling brainchild of four major commissioning companies at the time to the respected organisation of today.
Who would have thought back then that we would have 400+ members — corporate, associate and individual members, with commissioning companies from as far afield as the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand queuing up to join us?
A great deal of effort has been given gratis by many people over the years, and it is this strength in depth that has lead to us being taken seriously by the industry. Not only are we recognised by bodies such as CIBSE, BSRIA and the HVCA, but we are also being consulted by Government departments when dealing with issues such as Climate Change and their effect on legislation, such as the changes to Part L.
The Commissioning Specialists Association is committed to working with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers to develop and promote the commissioning membership of the construction industry. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding at the 2007 CIBSE National Conference built on previous work between the two organisations as ‘partners in building-services excellence’.
The CSA was consulted by the Department for Communities & Local Government on proposed amendments to the commissioning of fixed building services in the Building Regulations, and a joint response was agreed and submitted by the CSA and CIBSE.
