Dimplex scales up its solar PV installation
Following the success of 16 solar PV panels on the roof on its offices near Southampton, Dimplex has installed a further 252 panels to increase the electrical output to 61 kW. Not only does the project reduce the building’s running costs and carbon emissions, but it also helps toward the company’s carbon-reduction obligations under the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. The installation also qualifies for the Feed-in Tariff.
The installation was carried out by Dimplex-accredited installer Anesco. The modules cover most the south-west-facing aspect of the roof and are expected to generate up to 50 MWh of electricity a year. The modules produce energy even on cloudy days.
Karen Trewick, marketing-communications manager for Dimplex, says, ‘Solar PV has the capability to make a real difference to any commercial building’s energy bills. We are closely monitoring generation levels here in Southampton. And as we run solar PV training courses here, it’s ideal to have a working installation on site.’
