Daikin reinforces its presence in Russian air-conditioning market

Daikin has set up an office in Moscow, moving from a sales system based on outside distributors to one incorporating its own marketing initiatives. The office is under the management of Daikin Europe NV and has a staff of nine, including two from Japan and seven local employees. Russia is the fifth largest air-conditioning market in Europe and has grown steadily despite unusually cool summers in 2003 and 2004. The largest air-conditioning market in Russia is the residential sector, but the demand for commercial air conditioners is expected to grow with the burgeoning construction of hotels, offices, shops and other buildings in big cities.
