Schwank welcomes higher ECA targets for radiant heaters

Space heating, Schwank, radiant heating

Schwank has welcomed the more stringent requirements that have recently been introduced for radiant heaters to qualify for Enhanced Capital Requirements. Four categories of radiant heaters are affected by the new targets. They are unitary radiant tube heaters, radiant plaque and cone heaters, multi-burner and continuous radiant tube heaters.

Schwank offers heaters in the first two categories.

The efficiency requirement for unitary radiant tube heaters is raised from 60% to 62.5%. The calorSchwandk D 30U heater has a radiant efficiency of 70.2%.

The efficiency requirement for radiant plaque and cone heaters has been raised from 60 to 65%. The radiant efficiencies of the primoSchwank 30 and supraSchwank 30 plaque heaters (pictured) are 69.5 and 80.9%, respectively.

Steven Sherman, managing director of Schwank, believes that manufacturers should be encouraged to up their game continually to stay on the Energy Technology List and that it would be beneficial if targets were raised further.
