New B&Q store does it with Powrmatic

Powrmatic, ventilation, insulated ventilators
These bespoke ventilators from Powrmatic provide comfort and smoke ventilation for a new B&Q store in south London.

Powrmatic has supplied 23 bespoke Skyvent Twinflap insulated ventilators to Airvent Life Safety Systems for installation at a new B&Q store in Bell Green, South London. The ventilators were designed to B&Q’s specification and have also been installed on other B&Q stores; they will be used for both comfort and smoke ventilation.

The store has been built to B&Q’s high specification to meet the company’s demanding sustainability requirements. Consequently, the energy-saving low air permeability of Skyvent ventilators has been a key criterion for their use in B&Q stores. At Bell Green they have been combined with Powrmatic’s Simatic controls to optimise performance while providing the complex functionality required of the system.

Aesthetics was also an important consideration; for the Bell Green store the ventilators are clad with special roof profiles to match the roof.

Airvent Life Safety Systems and Powrmatic worked closely together on the Bell Green project to provide a full turnkey package encompassing the installation, power connections and commissioning of the Powrmatic equipment.

Fully tested to the BS 7346 smoke-ventilation standard, SkyVent ventilators are available in single- and twin-flap configurations and offer a very low profile to blend with the design of modern industrial and commercial buildings. The extremely low air permeability is a significant help in meeting Building Regulations air leakage rates, while U-values as low as 0.17 W/m2/K in insulated versions minimise heat loss.
