Balfour Beatty works on Gateshead hospital’s pathology centre

Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has begun work on the £3.1 million building-services contract at the pathology centre of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead for main contractor Miller Construction. The project is due for completion in November 2013, with client fit-out to follow.

The new facility is one the site of the former laundry building. It includes refurbishment of the existing building and part new build.

BBES is providing M&E services, some of which include low-voltage power distribution and uninterruptible power supply, fire alarm, security, heating, domestics and air-conditioning systems. The company is also providing specialist autoclave, cold room, de-ionised water and pneumatic-tube installations.
