More light and lower costs with LED lighting

Conversion to LED lighting for the warehouse for Solvents with Safety at Doncaster is reducing energy consumption by 37% and trebling lighting levels. The installation by MHA Lighting is expected to reduce maintenance costs by more than £4622 over its useful life of 15 years, taking overall lifetime savings to £22 376.

Low-energy luminaires from MHA’s CLite range have a CRI of 80 and a colour temperature of 4000 K. 18 CLite 90/700 fittings with six sensors were installed to deliver a maximum lighting level of 239 lx and an average of 170 lx.

George Whale, operations manager for Solvents with Safety, says, ‘After undergoing a site re-build in 2011, we discovered that the lighting had been incorrectly specified. This made the lighting ineffective for our workforce, as well as being very expensive. After being introduced to MHA Lighting by our executive chairman Keith Wilson, we set about completing a comprehensive tendering process.’

The new installation followed trials with various fittings from two manufacturers to find lighting that produced the optimal light colour and reductions in lighting energy costs.
