Efficient heating and hot water is provided is provided by Potterton Commercial’s iHE packaged system in a Surrey nursing home.

The efficiency of the heating system in a care home in Surrey has been boosted by the installation of a 150 kW iHE stainless-steel commercial condensing boiler from Potterton Commercial. Coppice Lea Care Home provides residential and nursing care for up to 50 elderly residents and has 24 bedrooms.

This boiler is said to be the only one of its type on the UK market and achieves a net efficiency of 103.5% at 50°C flow and 30°C return. The 300 l integral hot-water tank has a recovery rate of 2240 l/h through a temperature rise of 50 K. The heating system serves the bedrooms, communal areas, kitchen and offices. There are 36 radiators and 30 DHW outlets.

The iHE boiler and hot-water package has built-in redundancy and thermo-plastic low-loss headers, highly insulated storage vessel, advanced controls and factory-fitted relief valves. Flues can be vertical or horizontal.

The premix burners and cascading intelligent controls provide a turndown ratio of 15:1. The controls also provide weather compensation, frost protection, hot-water priority and anti-legionella protection for the stored DHW.
