Kingspan wraps up pipe project at the new Birmingham Library

Kingspan Tarec’s Kooltherm pipe insulation is used throughout the new Library of Birmingham to achieve the required thermal performance with minimal thickness. The product can be used at temperatures from -50 to +120°C and attain thermal conductivities as low as 0.025 W/mK.

The building achieved a BREEAM score of 74.98 at the design stage and received over a million visitors within four months.

This pipe insulation is made in a continuous on-line process, which minimises waste. The closed-cell structure at its insulated core eliminates the risk of moisture ingress.

Fire performance was a key priority on the project, and Kooltherm pipe insulation and insulated pipe-support inserts are designed to provide a high level of resistance to burning and the spread of flame, achieving Euroclass BL-s1,d0.
