Tests confirm very long life of fluorescent tubes

Extensive life testing by Aura of its Ultimate T8 long-life fluorescent lamps has enabled the company to redefine its service-life specification to 70 000 h — well over eight times longer than standard fluorescent lamps. The quoted life, when running on electronic control gear for a warm start, is based on a 3 h switching cycle calculated to 80% of initial lumens. On a 12 h switching cycle, a life of 80 000 h is achieved. The key to the long life is a patented cathode-shield construction and internal protection layer. These lamps produce 10 to 12% more light output than standard fluorescent lamps and are available in six different colour temperatures.
