Assessing the benefits of power-factor correction

Schneider has added a power-factor-correction calculator to its web site. It is easy to use and requires three pieces of information that appear on every electricity bill (maximum demand, power factor and kVA availability charge). Using this information the calculator works out how much money could be saved over a year, how much carbon-dioxide emissions could be reduced and how much power could be made available for other loads. The results of a calculation can be e-mailed directly from the page. If appropriate, a site survey will be suggested and recommendations made for the most effective way to realise the potential savings.
