New Dublin venue shows off high-tech — including air conditioning controlled by a touch screen
Toshiba’s touch-screen control panel for air conditioning has been used for the first time in Europe in an award-winning conversion of a traditional school in Dublin into a public house. The Old Boro’ building has a beautifully restored Victorian interior with wood panelling, glass, old crystal and mirrors. It also has a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system supplied by Toshiba’s most experienced distributor, GT Phelan. Three SMMS units and 11 ducted indoor units comprise a heat-pump system that is controlled by a touch screen. There are also two air-to-air heat exchangers to supply fresh air. Other high-tech features include LCD television displays in the wall mirrors, touch-screen television controls and touch-screen tills, lighting and security panels. The touch-screen controller behind the bar controls air conditioning in every part of the building. It shows set points for each area and progress towards reaching it or maintaining it. The venue has two bars, snug, television viewing, kitchen servery and patio areas. It holds up to 1400 people on busy nights.
