The Manchester office of White Young Green is M&E consultant for this redevelopment of St Helens College in Merseyside.
The Manchester office of consultants White Young Green has been selected to act as M&E consultant for an innovative £58 million project for St Helens College in Merseyside. The work involves demolishing an existing building complex and creating a new building of 16 500 m2, along with major remodelling of two existing listed buildings opposite the new buildings. Mike Green, associate director at WYG’s Manchester office, says, ‘As this is a live site and to ensure operations run smoothly, half of the building occupants are to be decanted to alternative accommodation and the communication services diverted to secondary hub rooms to maintain services and avoid any disruption during the phased demolition. ‘Other changes facing the mechanical and electrical design team have been to ensure that we try to maintain the original aesthetics inside the refurbished areas using state of the art design solutions, yet ensuring the new build complements the other listed building on the site.’
