Honeywell-sponsored team wins championship for second year in a row

Heating installer Neil Plimmer and his driving partner Geoff Fawcett have won the Uniroyal Fun Cup motor-racing series for the second year running in their Team Honeywell car. The races are endurance events on major circuits, including Brands Hatch and Snetterton. They feature regularly on Sky Sport TV. Following their success, they went on to compete as Team Honeywell in the 8-hour world-cup race at Vale de Vienne in France. Neil Plimmer of Brian Plimmer Plumbing & Heating Engineers based in Pontefract, explains, ‘2007 is the ninth consecutive year of our association with Honeywell, the leading controls company. Honeywell backed us initially in National Formula Ford and continued its support when we switched to the Uniroyal Fun Cup on 2002.’ All Uniroyal Fun Cup cars are built to a single specification with 130 bhp VW/Audi engines. they have VW Beetle-styled bodies, but are otherwise real racing cars.

Heat pump market represents a colossal opportunity, says BESA

BESA’s head of technical Graeme Fox said the heat pump market represented “an absolutely colossal opportunity” for suitably qualified engineers but warned that the industry would have “to rapidly scale up capacity and needed considerable investment in additional skills to deliver all these hugely ambitious targets”.
