Flexible and efficient light control for 107 Cheapside

Delmatic, lighting controls
Flexible and energy-efficient lighting for this new building in the City of London is provided by Delmatic systems.

Highly energy-efficient and responsive management of lighting in the new 10-storey building at 107 Cheapside in London is provided by lighting controls and sensors supplied by Delmatic. It is a multi-tenanted commercial and retail building. The Delmatic systems were specified by consulting engineers Roger Preston & Partners and installed by Lorne Stewart.

The lighting-management system combines dimming in relation to occupancy and daylight, with a high level of flexibility for tenants to configure their own systems. It also includes emergency-lighting testing, monitoring and logging.Delmatic’s multi-circuit modules switch the landlord’s core lighting in response to scheduled commands and presence detectors. Metro One Ten DSI dimming modules provide flexible switching and dimming of tenant lighting.

The tenant system uses Delmatic multi sensors throughout office areas to control lighting in relation to light levels and occupancy. It uses an open LON protocol to enable tenants to add features such as IP telephony or web-browser control — or integrate other services with the lighting controls. The system is managed and monitored through graphical head-end software, through which changes to the configuration of the lighting and sensors can be made. The software enables lighting groupings to be configured to suit partitioning and open-plan zoning, as well as enabling tenants to adjust lighting levels as required.

The complete emergency-lighting installation is tested, managed and monitored by the Delmatic system in accordance with BS EN 50172. Intelligent photocells monitor the performance of every emergency lamp and relay pass/fail data to the head-end PC for action by maintenance staff. This arrangement saves much time compared to visual inspection and simplifies installation and maintenance.
