Smith’s joins legendary sporting names in Barnsley
A sports club that set future England cricketers Geoffrey Boycott and Darren Gough, as well as legendary umpire Harold ‘Dickie’ Bird, on their way to sporting fame has now called in another big hitter — Smith’s Environmental Products to supply high-level fan convectors for a new changing room at the Shaw Lane Ground.
The ground is now owned by Barnsley Rugby Union Club, but still also used by Barnsley Cricket Club, has been undergoing a series of developments that have so far included a new clubhouse, an all-weather Astroturf pitch and a new cricket pavilion.
Barnsley-based Walker’s Heating specified and installed 14 Smith’s Ecovector high-level fan convectors in a new changing-room block. With potentially 12 to 15 people likely to be using each of the changing rooms, Walker’s were keen to avoid having exposed pipework to radiators where people would be getting changed. The high level Ecovector HL eliminated this concern.
Elsewhere in the ground, Walker’s have installed five Smith’s Caspian fan convectors to provide energy-efficient heating to the banqueting hall, function room and teaching room. All products were sourced from Plumb Center.
Economy was an important factor on this project, and the fan convectors score well because the heat up time is very quick.
